What is Fat Freezing?
Cryolipolysis refers to fat freezing in simpler terms. It is a type of non invasive fat reduction treatment which is growing in popularity here in Singapore. In an affluent society where there is no scarcity in food, we are often troubled with excessive fat on our bodies. Cryolipolysis is FDA approved to treat stubborn fat in different body areas. It is safe, effective and there is no downtime after the treatment.
How does Fat Freezing work?
It works by applying targeted cooling to fat cells and trigger cell death. In the weeks following treatment, the frozen fat cells are eliminated by our body own natural processes. There is no harm to surrounding nerves or skin. Once the fat cells are eliminated from our body, they are gone for good.
When will I see results from Fat Freezing?
You should see up to 20% fat reduction in treated area over a period of 2 to 3 months. However, fat freezing should not be viewed as a weight loss program. It only targets subcutaneous fat under our skin but does not remove visceral fat around our internal organs. Therefore, it does not reduce your health risks to obesity related diseases if your BMI (Basal Metabolic Index) is in the unhealthy range.
To aim for a healthy BMI, you should continue to monitor your calorie intake and increase your physical activites. Check out our weight loss program and our calorie calculator to manage your weight today.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if I am the right candidate for Fat Freezing treatment?
The best way to know if you are a right candidate is to consult a doctor who is familiar with Fat Freezing. At Arium Clinic, we begin with asking your medical history. After that, our doctor will assess your treatment area. If you have any questions about the treatment, we will also answer them to the best of our ability. This is to give you the assurance and confidence before you begin treatment with us.
What happens during the Fat Freezing treatment?
During the treatment, we will place an applicator on your body. You may feel a mild sucking action, followed by a cooling sensation, as the applicator draws in the fat. During the procedure, you may continue to feel slight tingling, pinching and aching sensations until the skin begins to numb. After the treatment completes, the applicator will be removed from your body. Finally, we will gently massage the treated area to break up the frozen fat cells and enhance fat reduction.
How long does one treatment session take?
It depends on your treatment area. Most of the times, you can complete a single treatment within 35 minutes. We are able to treat up to 4 areas at the same time. You can complete all treatments on the same day or return on another day for the rest of the treatment.
What are the side effects from the treatment?
You may encounter temporary redness, discomfort, skin sensitivity or mild bruising over the treated area. These symptoms resolve on its own within one to two weeks. Paroxysmal hyperplasia (enlarged tissue volume over treated area) is rare and not commonly encountered. A doctor can better assess and explain the potential side effects to you in person.
How many treatments do I need in one area?
This depends on your treatment area and the amount of fat present. Generally, you should see up to 20% fat reduction 2 to 3 months after a single treatment. You may need repeated treatments for certain areas. You can discuss your expectations with our doctor. Then, we will be able to design a treatment plan to meet your personal goals.
Are there any persons who are unsuitable for Fat Freezing?
Patients who suffer from cryoglobulinemia, cold agglutinin disease, or paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria are not suitable for Fat Freezing treatment. These are rare medical conditions. Such patients react poorly under low temperatures. Generally speaking, Fat Freezing is a safe procedure for healthy individuals.
