What is electromagnetic muscle trainer?
Electromagnetic muscle trainer (EMT) is one of the latest technology that is used in aesthetic medicine for non-invasive body contouring. The focused electromagnetic field is able to pass through all skin and fat to stimulate high intensity muscle contractions. This is ideal for increasing muscle tone and strength. At the same time, our fatty tissues are metabolized. This results in a better toned and healthy physique. Electromagnetic muscle trainer is proven to be safe and effective. And best of all, there is no downtime after the treatment.
How does electromagnetic muscle trainer work?
The device applicators are placed on the target muscle to be treated. This includes areas such as upper arms, abdomen, thighs, hamstrings or buttocks. Electromagnetic waves are generated through the applicators to cause involuntary muscle contractions. This is similar to a doing a workout except that these muscle contractions are independent of brain function. The device uses a specific range of frequencies that does not allow muscle relaxation between two consecutive stimulations. Hence, your muscle is forced to remain in a contracted state for multiple seconds. When repeatedly exposed to such high load conditions, your muscle tissue is stressed and forced to adapt. These contractions trigger the release of free fatty acids which break down fat and at the same time, increase muscle tone and strength.
A recent multi-center study conducted on 22 subjects has shown that there is 15.4% increase in muscle mass, 18.6% reduction of subcutaneous fat and 10.4% improvement of abdominal separation (diastasis recti) in patients treated by EMT devices on their abdomen at 2 month interval.
What do I expect from a EMT session?
A single treatment session requires only 30 minutes. It is non invasive and there is no pain. You can lie down comfortably while the device performs the equivalent of more than 20,000 painless crunches or squats. For best results, repeat the treatment 2 to 3 times a week. At the end of 6 to 8 sessions, your body will be more toned, sculpted and slimmer. Thereafter, you have the option to continue the sessions on a weekly basis to maintain your positive results.
For a complete body contouring program, we recommend patients to combine EMT treatments with Body Fat Reduction or Cellulite Treatment for ideal results. You can also check out our weight loss program to manage your weight today.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if I am the right candidate for Electromagnetic Muscle Trainer?
The best way to know if you are a right candidate is to consult a doctor who is familiar with EMT. At Arium Clinic, we begin with asking your medical history. After that, our doctor will assess your treatment area. If you have any questions about the treatment, we will also answer them to the best of our ability. This is to give you the assurance and confidence before you begin treatment with us.
What happens during the EMT treatment?
During the treatment, we will place one or two applicators on your targeted muscle. There is no need to remove your clothes for the treatment. During the procedure, you may feel pulling or stretching sensations during the initial warm-up exercises. When the work-out begins, you will feel your muscles contracting under the electromagnetic stimulation. You are encouraged to rest and relax while the device does the work-out for you. No sweat.
What does a standard 30 minute EMT treatment comprises of?
Our EMT device has unique pre-programmed modules which are targeted at specific muscular groups for men and women. Each program comprises of stretching/warm-up exercises, fixed sets of 5 minute work-outs. The session then ends with a set of cool down exercises.
What are the side effects from the treatment?
Side effects from EMT treatments are not common. You may encounter temporary muscle pain, cramps, joint or tendon pain. You may also notice mild redness of the skin where the applicator is placed. These symptoms are not serious and will resolve on its own within a few days.
How many treatments do I need in one area?
We recommend an average of 6 to 8 treatments on a specific area to see significant results. These treatments should be spaced at 2 to 3 times a week. You can also discuss your expectations with our doctor. Then, we will be able to design a treatment plan to meet your personal goals.
Are there any persons who are unsuitable for EMT?
EMT treatment is a safe procedure for healthy individuals. However, we do not advice pregnant patients, or those with medical implants, pacemakers, bleeding disorders, high blood pressure or epilepsy to receive EMT treatments. Where possible, we would avoid to place the applicators on broken or infected skin, bones or joints with signs of acute inflammation or areas with cancerous growths.
